James Selby

James Selby, 83, Stevens Point, a former Portage County
Highway Department road superintendent, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Ministry St.
Michael’s Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13,
at Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point.
Visitation will be at the funeral chapel from 2 p.m. Friday until
the services.

Mr. Selby was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Garrett, Ind., a son of the
late George and Susan (Zie) Selby. As a child the family moved to Stevens Point,
and he graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School.
He served in the National Guards’ Ready Reserve from 1950 to
1958.
He was married to Sandra Dee Worden Oct. 4, 1958, at St.
Paul’s United Methodist Church. She died May 21, 2003.
He worked as a patrol superintendent at the Portage County
Highway Department, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelly Selby; and two
grandchildren, Tyler and Sadie Pechinski.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, George “Smoke”
Selby.
