Jerome ‘Jerry’ Glad

Jerome “Jerry” Glad, 79, Custer, the first Portage County
business administrator, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, of complications from
Parkinson’s disease at Tanglewood Assisted Living in Plover.


A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at
the Pisarski Community Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Plover, with the
Rev. Daniel Hackel officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.


Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Friday
until the service.


A memorial will be established in his name.

Mr. Glad was born Sept. 30, 1936, in Custer, a son of the
late Walter and Agnes (Wierzba) Glodowski. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High
School.


He served three years in the U.S. Navy from 1954 through
1957.


He attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and
received a degree in accounting.


He became a certified public accountant and worked in
accounting.


He was married to Margaret VanVeen Sept. 15, 1962. The
marriage ended in divorce.


He was later married to Naomi Sampsell Oct. 25, 1980. She died
Dec. 1, 2011.


He was hired as the Portage County business administer in
1974 to handle accounting and business operations for the county. He retired in
1997.


Survivors include one son, Brian Glad, Custer; one daughter,
Julie Shepherd, North Carolina; one stepson, Bill Bayba, Stevens Point; one
stepdaughter, Virginia Mount, Hazard, Ky.; two brothers, Myron (Rose) Glodowski,
Milwaukee, and David (Lorraine) Glodowski, Custer; two sisters, Marie (Leonard)
Adamski, Mukwonago, and Linda (Ronald) Firkus, Stevens Point; and eight
grandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by one brother, Conrad
Glodowski; and one sister,
Rita Mrozinski.
