William F. Jurgella, age 82, died Nov. 4, 2015 at the WI Veterans Home in King, Wis. 
Funeral Service will be held at Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point on Monday, Nov. 9, at 10:30 AM. Reverend Thomas Linder will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s-Torun Cemetery with full military rites. Friends may call from 5-7 PM on Sunday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point.

A general Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM. On Monday friends may call from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church.

William was born in Stevens Point, August 20, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Pestka) Jurgella. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs’s high school and  enlisted in the U.S. Army in Milwaukee on June 23rd, 1954. He served in Germany and received the national defense service medal and  the Army of Occupation Medal.  He was honorably discharged at Ft. Sheridan, Ill. on June 7, 1956.

He lived in Milwaukee a short time before returning to Stevens Point.  He owned Jurgella’s Bar from 1960-1961. He then became a route salesman for Frito Lay. He later worked at Basic American Foods until retirement.

He has lived at the King Wis. Veterans Home since July of 2014.

William was an avid bowler, biker and walker.  He enjoyed Polka dancing and vacationing up North. He was a huge Pacelli sports backer and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Isaac Walton league.
William is survived by 3 children: Dan (Darci) Jurgella, Plover, Judi (Brian) Burkhardt, Lewisville, NC, and Kathy (Ron) Hintz, Polonia. Four grandchildren, Josh (Sarah Shulfer) Hintz, Amiee (Lance) Christopher, Michael Jurgella and Lauren Jurgella. Four great-grandchildren; Hunter and Haven Hintz, and Kassidy and Nola Christopher. One brother Richard, ( Marilyn) Jurgella of Plover. Two sisters Mary Ann (Reginald) Lepak, and Darlene Jurgella, both of Stevens Point.
He was preceeded in death by his wife Florence, on April 28th, 2007, two brothers Joseph and Raymond, and one sister, Dorothy Patoka.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staffs at the Riverview Lodge, the VA at King and the hospice staff from Theda Care.
