Sylvester Anthony “Silver” Ostrowski, 86, rural Iola, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point after being stricken at home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at St. Adalbert Church in Rosholt, with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, with full military honors.

Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the Mass.

Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point assisted with
arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.shudafuneral.com.

Mr. Ostrowski was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Portage County, a
son of the late Frank and Pauline (Rekowski) Ostrowski, the 10th of 15 children.
He attended local one-room country schools and worked on the family farm until
he left to serve in the military.

He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 9, 1953, to Dec. 21,
1954, as a radio operator, during which he completed his high school education.
He was stationed in Germany and was awarded Army of Occupation and National
Defense medals.

After spending some time in California, he completed the
electronics program at DeVry Institute in Chicago and worked for a number of
companies in the Chicago area.

He then returned to the Iola area to operate the family farm
until he retired due to disability.

A severe accident had contributed to lingering health
problems throughout the rest of his life.

Survivors include two sisters, Valerie Thompson and Theresa
Dryszel; two brothers, Dennis (Kathleen) Ostrowski and Frank (Kathryn)
Ostrowski; two sisters-in-law, Carol Ostrowski and Lucy Ostrowski; and 36
nieces and nephews; plus a large extended family of more than 90 first cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Anna Pochinski,
Mary Nitka, Martha Jazdzinski, Aloys Ostrowski, Nickolas Ostrowski, Regina
Wojtalewicz, Irene Korpalski, Henry Ostrowski, Felix Ostrowski and Raymond
Ostrowski.
