Dorothy M. Alakson age 94, of Iola passed away Wednesday November 11, 2015 at ThedaCare Hospital in Waupaca.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at Noon on Monday November 16, 2015 at the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 11:00 until the time of services Monday at the funeral chapel.
Dorothy was born October 11, 1921 in the Town of Dewey, the daughter Norman and Anna (Vicker) Nordbye. She graduated from Emerson High School and began working first in Milwaukee and then Chicago. Dorothy married Charles Alakson on March 26, 1945 in South Carolina. The couple lived all over the world as Charles was serving his country in the United States Marine Corp. The couple eventually settled in Hemet, CA, where Dorothy managed the local Meals on Wheels Program for 15 years until she retired.
She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, visiting friends, and was an avid reader. She moved to WI this past January to be with family.
Dorothy is survived by her sister: Betty Taylor, Whiting. Numerous nieces and nephews including: Diane (Roger) Firkus, Iola; Sherry (John) Kell, Amherst; Jan Dawayne (Waltenberg), Amherst; Victoria Bannach, Plover; Phil Behr, Nevada; Judy (Jim) Kesey, Mosinee; Kenneth (Ann) Soyka, Amherst; David Soyka, Stevens Point; Rose and Tom Scott, Linda and Jack Kinney, Mark Taylor, Matthew all of St. Point; Allen Taylor, Deb Taylor all of Wis. Rapids, Jane and Mark Kraklow, Iola, and three special fiends Virginia, Jim, and Marilyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles in 2006, her brother Richard Nordbye and two sisters JoAnn Soyka and Margrett Behr.
