Amanda Lou Schumitsch (Ottman), 79

Amanda Lou Schumitsch (Ottman), 79 of Marshfield, died Sunday November 15th 2015 at Miller Alternative Care in Marshfield.

She was born July 8th, 1936, in Antigo to the late Leo and Amanda (Blake) Ottman. On September 28th 1957 her marriage to Donald G. Schumitsch took place at St. John’s Catholic Church in Antigo.

Lou was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed camping and bowling. Lou also enjoyed many years of RV travel with her husband to visit friends and family across the country. Lou was very active at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover where she shared her love of music and her strong faith as a member of the choir and the PCCW. She was also active as a member of the women’s auxiliary to the VFW Plover Post No 10262.

Survivors include her children, Donna J (Bill) Muth, Julie A (Brian) Inger, Michael D (Patricia), Laura L (Britt) Schumitsch-Jewell, and Donald E. She is further survived by fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a brother Otto as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Lou was preceded in death by her husband, her son Joseph Lee; grandson, Timothy Higgins; great-granddaughter, Amelia Cliver; her brothers Leo, George, Cletus and James; and sisters Carla McFarland and Norma Perkins.

Lou’s family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff of Miller Alternative for the excellent and compassionate care they have provided over the past four years for our mother.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday November 19, 2015 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church 3200 Plover Road Plover with a meal to follow. Visitation on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo.
