Helen B. Burkart, age 88, of Stevens Point, WI died November 16, 2015 at St. Michaels Hospital. Helen recently resided at Maple Ridge Assisted Living, Plover, WI.

Helen was born to the late John A. & Lamertha M. (Long) Roeglin in Milwaukee, WI. She grew up, attended the local schools and graduated from Messmer High School.

She married William Burkart in 1948. They later divorced.

In her earlier years, Helen was employed as a secretary at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance. She worked at Point Credit Services for 30 years, and retired from Carlson Maintenance & Management.

Helen will be remembered as a nature and animal lover. Her faith was important, as she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In her free time, Helen enjoyed cultivating her flower gardens and crafts. Helen loved her family and treasured numerous family gatherings. Helen took pride in her travel abroad to Italy; she prized her opportunity to explore an enduring culture that is the root of her Catholic faith.

She is survived by son Thomas (Aggie) Burkart of Plover; daughter, Jill (Shane) Grosskreutz of Waupaca; daughter-in-laws, Annette Burkart and Mary Burkart. She is further survived by grandchildren, Steven (Tomiena) Burkart, Brooke (Matthew) Thomas, Amanda (Christopher) Hussain, Kelsey Kitowski, Dylan Grosskreutz, and Damon Grosskreutz; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Jeffery and Robert Burkart; and sisters, Margaret Menz and Jeanne Roeglin.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Jerzy Rebacz presiding. A time of visitation will precede the funeral from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Private interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
