Robert J. Gilman, 89, Wisconsin Rapids, a Whiting native and father of a Stevens Point man, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at Pine Ridge Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Jim Altman officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Monday until the services.

Memorials may be designated to Aspirus Hospice.

Mr. Gilman was born June 13, 1926, in Whiting, a son of the
late Harry and Anna (Walters) Gilman.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Oct. 28,
1944, until Aug. 6, 1946.

He was married to Charlotte A. Heckel Sept. 4, 1947, in
Wisconsin Rapids. She died Nov. 21, 2011.

He attended Milwaukee School of Engineering and was employed
in the maintenance department of Consolidated Papers Inc. for 38 years,
retiring in 1987.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Vlack, River Falls;
two sons, Larry (Karen) Gilman, Stevens Point, and Steve (Linda) Gilman, Adams-Friendship;
seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Gilman;
and one sister, Jean Gilman.
