Betty J. Lake, 89, Plover, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Boston Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam presiding. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the service. An AMVETS Lady’s Auxiliary and Women of the Moose rituals will precede the service at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Portage County Treasure – Holly
Shoppe.

Mrs. Lake was born July 4, 1926, in Bury St. Edmunds,
England, to the late Charles and Rose (Bunney) Brunning. She grew up there and
attended local schools.

She was married to Chester J. Lake May 19, 1945, at St.
Edmund Church in Bury St. Edmunds, England. He died Nov. 28, 2005.

At the age of 19, she moved to the United States with her
husband, and they settled in Stevens Point.

She devoted the first part of her life to raising a family.
After their children had grown, she became a hostess at McDonald’s restaurant
until retiring. She later became a volunteer at the Holly Shoppe; selling
homemade arts and crafts.

She was a member of the AMVETS Lady’s Auxiliary 1051, Women
of the Moose and Barbara Rebekahs.

Survivors include four children, John (Carol) Lake, Kevin
(Pamela) Lake, Michelle (James) Osowski and Laura (Michael) Garvin; 10 grandchildren,
Renee (James), John (Jenny), Dale, Brandon, Leland, Melissa (Chad), Amanda
(Mitch), Amber (Andy), Nathaniel (Rebecca) and Cassandra (Patrick); 16 great-grandchildren;
and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Diana
Dominick; two brothers; one sister; and one grandson, Jeffrey Dominick.
