Augusta M. Bergquist

Augusta Margaret Bergquist (Martello), 76, Eau Claire, mother of a Stevens Point man, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, in her home. She was under the care of Sacred Heart Cancer Center and Sacred Heart Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at The Dulaney Inn & Heritage Room at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in Eau Claire.

Donations in her honor may be made to Bob’s House for Dogs, Eau Claire County Humane Association, Irvine Park or an animal shelter of one’s choice.

Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services in Eau Claire assisted with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.lenmarkfh.com.

Mrs. Bergquist, who was also called “Sam” or “Tootsie,” was born July 12, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., a daughter of the late August and Angelina Martello. She attended St. Anthony Grammar School and St. Willibrord Catholic High School in Chicago.

She was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Parish in Chicago, Ill., and worked at Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago for many years.

She moved to Fall Creek in 1973 and remained in the Eau Claire area, working as a caregiver.

Survivors include eight children, Brian (Jill) Bergquist, Stevens Point, Kirk (Amie) Bergquist, Kellee (Brent) Koehler, Wendi Bergquist, Pam (Richard) Bergquist, Dianna (Chad) Bergquist, Megan Martello, and Stacey Martello; two sisters, Jean (Bob) and Rosalind; three brothers, Bill (Wan Ling) Martello, Augie (Kathy) Martello, and CJ Jim Martello; and nine grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Maria, and three brothers, Chester, August, and Romeo.
