Pacelli co-op hockey team looks to turn up offense

With a number of players moving into larger roles, the
Pacelli High School co-op boys hockey team will look to take a step forward
this season.
Comprised of players from Pacelli, Amherst, Almond-Bancroft,
Iola-Scandinavia and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption high schools, the Cardinals
returned most of their defense from a year ago, but lost four of their five top
scorers from last season’s team that went 15-9.
After scoring a total of nine goals in their first six games
this season, the Cardinals (3-4) nearly matched that total in an 8-2 win over
Chequamegon/Phillips (1-1) at Ice Hawks Arena Tuesday, Dec. 8, and are set to
return to action at Merrill (0-3-1) at
p.m.
“We usually put the puck in the net and this is unusual for
us, to not have guys scoring,” said Pacelli head coach Rusty Mitch. “But our
goal is to be the best that we can be by the end of the season, we have always
been a very good team at the end of the year, and I expect that’s going to
happen once the pucks start going in the net.
“We need to just generate more shots, and things are going
to start falling,” he said.
