After taking an early lead, the Pacelli Cardinals varsity boys basketball team fell behind the Bonduel Bears and took their second loss of the season with a final score of 68-55.

The Cardinals entered the game following a 39-49 loss to the Assumption Royals in a nonconference game on December 4. Pacelli’s record now stands at 0-1 in the Central Wisconsin – Eight Conference and 1-2 overall.

“We played a competitive game and gave ourselves a chance at the end of the game,” said Pacelli Head Coach Matt Resch. “Jake Elliot did a great job of getting the ball to the rim and also capitalizing on free throws when he was fouled.”

Senior guard Elliot led the Cardinals with 25 points, nearly half of the team total. Senior guard Trevor Glodowski scored 14 points, all in the first half of the game. Senior center AJ Firminhac followed with six points and five rebounds for the night.

The Cardinals shot for 47.2 percent on the night.

Lead scorers for Bonduel were senior power forward Peyton Czarapata with 21 points, senior guard Trevor Pederson with 19 points and senior small guard Gage Petoka with 14 points.

The Cardinals’ next game takes them away to play the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers (1-1) on December 11 at 7:30 PM.
