Boys and Girls Club Beats 2015 Fundraising Goal

For the City Times
The Boys and Girls Club of Portage County has passed its 2015 fundraising goal.
Marketing Director Brittany Melby said the Building Great Futures capital campaign netted the group $4.4 million- more than the club’s $4.2 million goal. Funds raised will support the projects and programs in all of the Club’s Portage County locations, including Almond-Bancroft, Plover, Junction City and Stevens Point.
The Stevens Point chapter is preparing to move into the nearly completed Berard Center, named for major donors Bob and Mary Berard, located next to P.J. Jacobs Junior High.
A grand opening ceremony is planned for Feb. 6, 2016.
The Boys and Girls Club of Portage County started in 2002 with only two locations and less than 50 members, but has grown to eight locations serving more than 1,400 members.
