Wallace D. Meuret, 81, Hatley, father of a Stevens Point
woman, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.


A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.
22, at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hatley, with the Rev. Greg Bohren officiating.


Visitation will be at the church from 3 p.m. Tuesday until
the Mass.


Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg assisted
with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.schmidtschulta.com.


Mr. Meuret was born April 9, 1934, in Wausau, a son of the
late Arthur and Emma (Janke) Meuret.


He was married to Loretta Jozwiak Aug. 18, 1956, in
Mississippi.


He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1956
until 1960.


He worked as an electrician for K&M Electric for a
number of years and then was self-employed. He also owned and operated Gun Mart
in Hatley for many years.


He taught the emergency medical training (EMT) course for
many years and was instrumental in starting the Hatley Ambulance Department. He
was the assistant fire chief in Hatley and taught hunter safety for more than 40
years.


He was a founding member of the Bevent Lions Club and served
as district governor.


He was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church in Hatley and
volunteered on numerous occasions, whether for the church picnic or wiring the
church.


Survivors include his wife, Loretta Meuret, Hatley; five
children, Debbie (Mike) Mitchell, Stevens Point, and Jim (Ellen) Meuret, Bob
Meuret, Barry “Beaver” (Tina) Meuret and Gary (Sharon) Meuret, all of Hatley; three
sisters, Shirley Meuret, Joyce Knapp and Beverly Schultz; and two brothers,
Gerald “Jiggs” (Jo) Meuret and Kenneth “Curly” (Karen) Meuret; seven grandchildren;
and four great-grandchildren.


He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Gordy;
and two sisters, Dee and Bernice.
