Stephen S. Kawleski, age 93, of Stevens Point, died December 12, 2015 at Willow Brooke Senior Living.

Steve was born December 20, 1921 to the late William and Bridget (Rutta) Kawleski in the Town of Eau Pleine. He grew up within the area and attended the local school.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1944 and was honorably discharged.

Steve married Dolores Glaza at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church on July 25, 1947.

He worked as a truck driver with Shafton, Gross, and Dahlman Trucking. After 30 years of dedication, he retired.

Steve was always the optimist, approaching life with a positive attitude. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who led a happy life. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed woodworking, testing his luck on the penny slot machines, and watching old westerns. Steve also was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. Steve loved the serenity his lake cottage offered and visited the Tomahawk area often where he enjoyed fishing off the lake and cultivating his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores Kawleski; daughter, Kathleen (Gene) Gentili; nephew, Jim (Nancy) Strykowski; nieces, Dorothy (Dick) Schubert, Caroline (Chester) Wiernik, and Eleanore (Ray) Wiernik; and many extended family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and 15 brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Junction City, with Rev. John Ofori-Domah presiding. A time of visitation will precede the Funeral Mass from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A traditional burial rite will be held in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point.
