Edward H. Bartig, 77

Chief Master Sergeant Edward H. Bartig, United States Air Force Retired, age 77, peacefully passed from this life, surrounded by his 3 daughters at St Joseph’s hospital, in Bellingham, WA on Dec. 10, 2015.
He was born in Stevens Point, WI to Harvey and Amy Bartig and was raised in Stevens Point. He graduated from SPASH in 1957 and enlisted in the military shortly after.
Edward enjoyed a long distinguished career serving his country for 33 years in the United States Air Force. He achieved the highest rank enlisted personnel can attain and earned many awards and medals during his service.
He traveled the world, learned many things and made many friends. After his retirement, Edward enjoyed reading, working in his garden, farming, sports cars, fighter jets, racing, traveling, military events, and war planes.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Bartig. Edward is survived by his sister, Jean Vican, daughters Elissa (Stephanie) Bartig, Rachael (Jason) Ives, and Sarah (Keith) Travis, grandchildren Maggie Higgins, Jordyn, Jenna, and Juliette Ives, Caleb and Samuel Travis, and many extended family members.
Visitation will be held on December 21st at 9:30 am at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, WI with a service to follow at 10:30 am. Edward will be buried with full military honors and a 21 gun salute at Forest Cemetery after the funeral services. I
