The Stevens Point Common Council meets for the last time in 2015 on Monday at 7 PM.

The meeting, which is open to the public, is being held in Council Chambers of the County-City Building, also known as the courthouse, 1516 Church St.

The meeting will open with a presentation from Nick Hylla, executive director of the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA). Presentations from various groups have become a staple at the beginning of monthly meetings- an effort, Mayor Mike Wiza says, to better educate the council and public.

The 40-item agenda includes final approval of two annexations from the Town of Hull into Stevens Point; approval of a conditional use permit for a new indoor storage facility at the former Church St. location of Copps; relocation of the polling place for District 4; and the actions of the personnel committee, which include denial of “just cause” language affecting city employees. That topic garnered lengthy debate earlier this month.

The council will also enter into closed discussion to consider resolving an encroachment on city property “within Bukolt Park”. City leaders have been discussing the topic for several months, but city officials have remained tight-lipped on the details.
