Crews Recover Body from Water at Bukolt

Stevens Point police say an elderly woman has died following an incident at Bukolt Park Tuesday morning.
Assistant Chief Tony Babl has confirmed the woman’s body was recovered from the Wisconsin River a few minutes before 1 PM.
The 70-year-old woman was reported missing Monday night around 6:45 PM, Babl said. Her vehicle was found near the boat landing of Bukolt Park, prompting a search of the area by investigators, as well as K-9 units.
Divers were called in around 11 AM Tuesday to search the Wisconsin River. Her identity was not immediately released, but Babl said she was a resident of Stevens Point.
The Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene, and volunteers from Divepoint Scuba also assisted with the search.
