Richard J. Richter, 77, Wittenberg, a Stevens Point native and brother of two Portage County residents, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway, with the Rev. Augustine Bentil officiating.

Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Monday until the Mass.

Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home in Wittenberg assisted
with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at schmidtschulta.com.

Mr. Richter was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Stevens Point, a son
of the late Ben and Evelyn (Simonis) Richter.

He was married to Susan Garski Nov. 11, 1962, in Rosholt.

He farmed in the town of Germania in Shawano County for many
years. He was employed at the former Hatley Veneer and then was a custodian for
the Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District for many years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; one son, Ronald Richter,
Wittenberg; two daughters, Sandy Richter and Louise (Dan) Zenko, both of
Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Lorraine (Richard) Yenter, Rosholt, and Andrea
(Richard) Singer, Stevens Point; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Carol Wanta;
and one brother, Randall Richter.
