City Times Staff

A 29-year-old New Hope man has been sentenced to eight years in prison, followed by seven years of extended supervision, for repeated sexual abuse of a child.

Alex Platta was charged in September after the victim came forward. The abuse occurred while the child was 13 and 14 years old.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl said she and Platta would watch pornographic movies on his tablet computer and have sex while their families were asleep on at least 20 occasions.

Platta pleaded no contest in October.

He will serve eight years behind bars, with an additional seven years of extended supervision, during which he is prohibited from having any contact with the victim, or family and any underage girls.
