District: Help Us Choose Next Superintendent

City Times Staff
The Stevens Point School Board is preparing to choose a full-time superintendent, and it wants your help.
Anyone interested in joining a screening committee to assist in hiring a new superintendent should return applicants by 4:30 PM on Monday, Jan. 4. Anyone interested can apply online here.
The board had been primed to hire a new full-time superintendent last March after paying a search firm $16,000 to find qualified candidates over a hasty two-month search. Two finalists were chosen from that search, both local residents with administrative experience, but the board declined to hire either, prompting heavy public scrutiny.
This time, the board decided to employ a screening committee to review and recommend candidates for the position, as opposed to hiring a search firm.
Along with area residents, the screening committee will be consist of district administrators, teachers, students and various district employees.
The deadline to apply for the position of superintendent, which will be paid between $145,000 and $165,000 plus benefits, is Feb. 15, 2016.
