Marie Catherine Matykowski, 90, Sun Prairie, a former Plover
resident and mother of a Stevens Point man, died Monday, Jan 4, 2016, at St.
Mary’s Hospital in Madison.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday,
Jan. 8, at St.
Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun
Prairie, with Monsignor Terrence Connors presiding. Burial will be at St.
Joseph’s Cemetery in East Bristol.


Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Friday until the
service.


A memorial fund is being established.


Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Sun
Prairie assisted with arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.newcomerfh.com.


Mrs. Matykowski was born July 7, 1925, in Racine, a daughter
of the late Joseph and Catherine (Kressig) Mueller.


She was married to Henry Matykowski May 1, 1946.


She spent most of her life raising six sons and working with
her husband running Matty Oil Company and Matty’s Discount Barn.


They moved from Crivitz to Plover in 1965, where they
resided until her husband’s retirement, when they moved to Columbus and
eventually to Sun Prairie.


She was an active member of various bands in the Racine
area, including St. Catherine High School, the Acquin Hall Band and Racine Park
Band, playing the clarinet.


Survivors include six sons, John (Kathy), Lacey, Wash.,
Donald (Lois), Stevens Point, William, Des Moines, Iowa, Gerald (Candice),
Minneapolis, Minn., Charles (Lisa), Williamsburg, Va., and George (Jayne), Sun
Prairie; one sister, Catherine Goeghan, Milwaukee; 19 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.


She was also preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor; two brothers,
Lawrence Mueller and the Rev. Joseph Mueller; and one grandchild.
