OWI: Police cited a 23-year-old woman  for OWI, first offense, after a one-vehicle crash near Whiting Rd. and Tommy’s Turnpike at 2:22 AM. No injuries were reported.

Drinkin’ in the Backseat: A 21-year-old man was cited after police discovered he had an open intoxicant in the backseat of a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man on Hoover Ave. at 1:40 PM.

Holy Coyote: A 63-year-old man called deputies to report a possible coyote sighting near Hwy. 66 and County Trunk II at 6:01 PM.

Identity Crisis: A 57-year-old woman received a warning for driving without her headlights on while driving near Church and Monroe streets at 9:21 PM. The officer noted the woman’s drivers license incorrectly showed her gender as “male”.

Jan. 1

Multiple Mailbox Fatalities: Police were notified by a resident of North Second St. at 10:29 AM that several mailboxes had been taken out by a passing motorist. No further information was immediately available.

Threatening Texts: A 44-year-old woman called deputies at 5:01 PM to report she’d been receiving threatening text messages from her 45-year-old ex-boyfriend and requested information on a restraining order.

Domestic Disturbance: Police were called to a home on the 3600 block of Maria Dr. at 9:39 PM after a caller reported a disturbance between two people there. The individuals were separated for the night but no citations were given.

Jan. 2

Dog Bite: A 29-year-old woman called police to report she’d been bitten by a dog on Ferndale Drive at 11:54 PM. The dog was taken to the Portage Co. Humane Society for observation. The extent of the woman’s injuries was not immediately known.

Jan. 3

Disturbance: Police were called to a home on the 700 block of Polk St. at 10:40 PM to assist with an argument between a man and woman who lived there. The man agreed to leave for the evening.

Flat Tires: A 23-year-old woman called police to report the tires on her vehicle had been flattened at her County Trunk HH home at 11:53 PM.
