Two suspects are in custody for drug possession and paraphernalia.
According to a news release from the Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office, two men suspected of possession and delivering methamphetamine, heroin and other controlled substances “across several counties” were arrested on Jan. 5.
The drug deals are said to have totaled over 24 grams of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.
The men, 35-year-old Benjamin Kubisiak, and Paul Dopp, 30, both of Amherst, are expected to appear in Portage Co. Circuit Court on Thursday.
The investigation was a lengthy one, according to the sheriff’s office, involving the department’s detective and Special Response Team, as well as the Central Wis. Drug Task Force.
The search yielded 1.8 grams of cocaine, .4 grams of methamphetamine, and several OxyContin pills at the men’s Wilson St. home in Amherst.
According to the release, investigators were able to link several deliveries of heroin, methamphetamine, and other controlled substances to the occupants of the home.
Kubisiak was taken into custody by deputies without incident and booked into jail for felony possession of methamphetamine and narcotic prescription pills, as well as misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charges. Kubisiak had previously been convicted of felony drug-related offenses in 2005.
Deputies located and arrested Dopp during a traffic stop. He was arrested on four counts of possession of narcotics with the intent to deliver. Dopp was also booked on charges of felony possession of heroin and methamphetamine, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession, which were located both in his vehicle at the time of the traffic stop. Dopp also has a previous conviction for drugs in 2013.
Both men are expected to appear in Portage County Circuit Court on Thursday, Jan. 6.
