Marion Rachick

Marion R. Rachick, 88, Stevens Point, died Tuesday, Jan. 12,
2016, at North Haven where she had resided the past month.
An afternoon gathering will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, at
the Shuda Funeral Chapel – Stevens Point.
Her family invited family and friends to spend an hour or
two with them. Visitors are asked to wear purple and blue jeans for the
gathering. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, and at 1:30 p.m. a rosary
and prayer service will be held. Burial will be at the Winfield, Ill.,
Cemetery.

Mrs. Rachick was born May 8, 1927, in Wheaton, Ill., a
daughter of the late George and Marion (Foos) Besch. The family moved to West
Chicago when she was a child, and she attended St. Mary Catholic School and
graduated from West Chicago High School.
She was married to John Rachick Sept. 16, 1946, in West
Chicago, Ill. He died April 19, 2000.
The couple moved to Stevens Point in 1948 and raised their
family.
She spent many years volunteering in the Stevens Point School
System reading to children, she was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, a driver
for the elderly and a volunteer at the Holly Shoppe in the Lincoln Center.
She has the distinction of being the
oldest volleyball player in the history of the Stevens Point City Volleyball
League, playing at the age of 72. She was a member of the Stevens Point Old Car
Club and the Camping Hounds.
Survivors include three children, Clarence “Clancy” (Janie)
Rachick, Dania Beach, Fla., James Rachick, St. Paul, Minn., and Jude Rachick
Holley, Stevens Point; five grandchildren, Ryan, Chrystel, Cherish, Brandi Jo
and Shelby; and one great-granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Peggy Ann
and Patty Lou; and two sisters, Betty Mertes and Gert Dalton.
