Jerome P. Konkol

Jerome Perry Konkol, 84, Custer, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at St. Mary Church in Torun, with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Konkol was born July 3, 1931, in the Pike Lake area of
Hatley in Marathon County, a son of the late Edward L. and Augusta (Yach)
Konkol. He graduated from Wittenberg High School.
He was married to Darlene J. Rucinski June 29, 1957, at St.
Michael Catholic Church in Wausau.
He worked for Chicago & North Western Railroad and hired
out to the Soo Line Railroad and Wisconsin Central Railroad. He retired in 1993
after 43 years of railroad service. He was president of Brotherhood of
Locomotive Engineers Local 893 for Soo Line Railroad.
He was a member of the Pope John Paul II Post 185 of the Polish
Legion of American Veterans at Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene, Custer; four daughters,
Kristine (Michael) Klennert, Iowa, Kaye (Jay) West, Rosholt, Karla (friend,
Mark Kowalski) Konkol, Stevens Point, and Kathleen (Jeff) Sommers, Plainfield;
one brother, James (Luanne) Konkol; one sister, Lenae Gruna; seven
grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy and
Delores.
