P.J. Jacobs Athletic Department has received two grants from the JJ Watt Foundation to purchase uniforms for its 7th and 8th grade athletes.
Jason Rieck, math teacher and 9th grade football coach, and David Hauser, the school’s athletic director, authored and applied for two grants in the 2015-16 school year with the JJ Watt Foundation for money to purchase uniforms.
In their first grant award, the school received $7,646.50 to purchase 7th and 8th grade football uniforms.
The second award, totaling $9,771.50, allowed the school to purchase new uniforms for baseball, softball, boys and girls track, girls basketball, volleyball, co-ed soccer and new shoulder pads for 7th and 8th grade football.
The JJ Watt Foundation mission is to provide after-school opportunities for middle-school aged children in the community to become involved in athletics, so that they may learn the character traits of accountability, teamwork, leadership, work ethic and perseverance while in a safe and supervised environment with their peers.
