Lester B. Boelter
Lester Benjamin “Les” Boelter, 87, Winona, Minn., a town of Buena Vista native and brother of Iola and Amherst women, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Saint Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at St. Mathew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winona, with the Rev. Paul F. Welke officiating. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Winona.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home in Winona and at the church Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Mr. Boelter was born Feb. 5, 1928, in the town of Buena
Vista in Portage County, a son of the late Benjamin and Selma (Schmitt)
Boelter. He graduated from Amherst High School in Amherst.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was married to Viola Bestul Jan. 29, 1949, at St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Amherst.
They moved to Winona, Minn., and on Sept. 1, 1969, they
started Boelter Industries Inc., growing the company from nine employees to more
than 135. One of his accomplishments was holding a packaging application
patent. The family owned and operated the business until July 2013.
He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church,
National Paper Box Association, Industrial Packaging Engineers and the
Minnesota City Boat Harbor.
He and his wife spent time at their lake home near Rice
Survivors include his wife, Viola; three children, Dennis
(Barb) Boelter, Winona, Dean (Melinda) Boelter, Fort Meyers, Fla., and Dixie
(Gary) Breitenfeldt, Winona; two sisters, Alta Sannes, Iola, and Frieda Bobbe,
Amherst; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Arlyn Boelter;
and one sister, Leona Toftum.
