Local woman celebrates 90th Birthday

Adelle Somers, Stevens Point, recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
Adelle was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Fancher, a daughter to Felix and Martha (Konkol) Jastromski.
She was married to Ray Somers June 7, 1947, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point. They were married for 47 years until he died unexpectedly of a heart attack in 1994.
Most of Adelle’s working years were as a soda fountain waitress/clerk at Taylor Drug Store in downtown Stevens Point and as a clerk at Roska Pharmacy. She was also a clerk at the Holt Drug Store/Park Ridge Pharmacy where she also managed the candy, tobacco and film departments.
After she retired, she volunteered at the Lincoln Center and the local blood bank.
The couple has three children, Karen (Greg) Wilson, Beacon Falls, Conn.; Judy (John) Yauch, Plover; and DuWayne (Pam) Somers, Plover.
She also has eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Adelle is the last survivor of 15 children.
