Vote Kloppenburg for Wisconsin Supreme Court

To the Editor:

The spring primary on Feb. 16 is your chance to do something positive for the state of Wisconsin. You can vote for JoAnne Kloppenburg for Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Sure, the legislature made it exponentially more difficult for hard-working, law-abiding, taxpaying citizens to exercise the right to vote. Yes, the dissolution of the Government Accountability Board (GAB) makes it substantially more challenging to keep government sleaziness in check.

All the more important to send a message that despite the roadblocks and impediments they may throw in the way of seniors, students and the poor in particular, that won’t stop us. With your photo ID in hand, you can strike a blow against voter suppression and send a message that we want judges who simply interpret the law rather than push a conservative agenda.

Electing Kloppenburg will be the first in a series of affirmative steps to turn the tide from regressive decision making back toward our proud progressive tradition. A good judge should have solid legal analytical abilities. A good judge should be a neutral umpire presiding over a trial.

Kloppenburg possesses these attributes and much, much more. She may well be our last line of defense. She will be a trustworthy jurist who will apply the rule of law fairly and wisely.

There has never been a time when we need these qualifications more. So don’t wait any longer. Get your ducks in a row now. Make sure you have the proper ID so you can vote Feb. 16 and when you do, cast your vote for JoAnne Kloppenburg for Wisconsin Supreme Court. You’ll be glad you did.
