Vote Trish Baker for Portage County Judge
To the Editor:
My decade’s association with the state and county judicial elections prompts my support for Trish Baker, candidate for judge in the Feb. 16 primary for Portage County Circuit Court.
I have known well, and campaigned for, Wisconsin Supreme Court Justices Ann Walsh Bradley, Jon Wilcox and Shirley Abrahamson. In Portage County, I have supported judges John Finn and Fred Fleishauer and call them my friends.
Others may write of Baker’s splendid judicial qualifications for judge, but I also ask of candidates, “What have you done for us, the citizens of the county and state you wish to serve?” Baker measures up.
She has served as a trustee on the Park Ridge Village Board and currently serves as a member of the Stevens Point Board of Education. She is the president of the Greater Portage County Rotary Club, a community service organization; a member of the Wisconsin Counties’ Association Judicial and Public Safety Committee; director of the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin; and director of the Mid-State Independent Living Consultants, Inc.
Baker is well known by the company she keeps. The Portage County judges appointed her to the office of clerk of courts in 2012, an office she then won in the following election.
That is the respect she has earned from both her judicial peers and the voters. Baker, as attorney and clerk of courts, has worked and volunteered her personal time and talents to serve all of us well. She is one of us, the citizen voters of Portage County.
Let us honor that service beyond self with our vote Feb. 16. Join me in voting for Trish Baker for judge.
