City Times Staff
A trial date has been set for Larry Sanchez, the 58-year-old Bancroft man accused of killing his wife before a four-hour standoff with police outside of his home.
Sanchez was in court on Monday for his pre-trial conference.
He is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, homicide by intoxicated use of a weapon and failure to comply with an officer’s attempt to take him into custody.
Sanchez allegedly shot and killed his estranged wife, 47-year-old Lisa Sanchez, on June 3, 2015, and later admitted to the shooting during questioning. He later barricaded himself inside his home and kept law enforcement at bay for nearly four hours.
The four-day jury trial is scheduled to begin in Portage Co. Circuit Court Branch III on July 19.
