Letter: Baker Has Education, Experience to be Judge

To the Editor-

I am writing this letter to encourage Portage County residents to vote for Trish Baker for judge
on February 16th.

Baker possesses the education and practical experience that a judge should have. She has
been a private practice attorney, assistant district attorney, and is Portage County’s current
Clerk of Courts. Being the chief administrator for the Portage County court system gives Baker
the experience and knowledge to hit the ground running.

Baker also possesses something no other candidate has and that is the experience of already
serving the public in an elected leadership position within our county. Baker has served on the
Stevens Point School Board and as the Portage County Clerk of Courts, this shows the
constituents already trust in her leadership abilities. Having the constituents trust in you is one
of the most important qualities that a judge can have.

I have personally observed Baker involved in discussions on various issues during Portage
County Board committee meetings. I have seen firsthand Baker’s ability to listen to both sides
of an argument, to find common ground between the two parties, and to determine a mutually
satisfactory decision.

I ask you to please join me in voting for Trish Baker for Portage County Judge on February 16th.

Tom Mallison
Stevens Point
Portage County Supervisor
