Evening of Chocolate Decadence benefits Epilepsy Foundation
The Epilepsy Foundation Heart of Wisconsin will hold its 12th annual Evening of Chocolate Decadence from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb.11, at the Stevens Point Country Club, 1628 Country Club Drive, Stevens Point.
The event raises funds to help support services to people with epilepsy in the central Wisconsin area. The cost is $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
“We feature local restaurants and chocolate,” said Ann Hubbard, services director for the Epilepsy Foundation Heart of Wisconsin. “They donate their time and fabulous food. People are able to walk around and sample savory hors d’oeuvres and decadent desserts.”
The treats are from local restaurants, bakeries, caterers and chocolatiers, including Adventure 212 Bistro, Cottage Café & Bakery, Great Expectations, Mikey’s Bar & Grill, Polito’s Pizza, Rockman’s Catering, Ski’s Meat Market, Starbucks, Stevens Point Country Club, Sugar Doll and Village Hive in Amherst. Hubbard said Village Hive jumped in at the last minute to fill a vacancy.
The signature Chocolate Raffle features boxed truffles instead of raffle tickets, and prizes include exquisite gift baskets, gift certificates and jewelry from Lee Ayers Jewelers.
“We have some beautiful items in gift baskets and jewelry,” Hubbard said.
A part of this year’s event will be a “Sports Den” silent auction. Last year, there were a few items on the silent auction pertaining to sports, but Hubbard said that has been expanded to make a sports silent auction part of the event.
Among the offerings, she said, are a football signed by Green Bay Packers who appeared this season on the “Pack Attack” TV show, game tickets and packages for sports fans regarding the Packers and Milwaukee Bucks.
The event is sponsored by many local businesses, including Delta Dental, ESPN Sports Fan 100.5, WAOW TV-9 and the host Stevens Point Country Club, which has hosted the event the last nine years.
