A family of four lost everything in a Monday afternoon fire.
A trailer home in the Town of Plover was deemed a total loss after crews responded to a blaze on the 5900 block of Birch Drive.
“When we arrived flames and smoke were visible from the back bedroom area, and it went downhill from there,” said Plover Fire Chief Mark Deaver said smoke and flames were visible when crews arrived shortly before 1 PM. “It was fully engulfed by the time we began the fire attack.”
Deaver said the home had working smoke detectors. Two adults in the home- a woman and her sister- home at the time of the fire but evacuated safely, he said. The family’s two children were at school.
Deaver said crews were on the scene until about 4:30 PM. The fire does not appear to be suspicious but the cause is still under investigation.
Bancroft and Hull fire crews also responded.
The American Red Cross also responded to the scene to assist the family with teddy bears, blankets, personal hygiene items and financial assistance for food, shelter, clothing and other emergency needs.
