The annual Passport to Paradise event, held in January, brought in over 400 attendees and raised more than $37,000.
The event — which has a different theme each year — is one of the largest fundraisers for The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County and the Stevens Point Area YMCA. The Jan. 22 event, now in its 14th year, was themed “Wild West”.
Held at SentryWorld, the night included food, local country band favorite Raised Reckless, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.
“The success of this event would not be possible without the support of local businesses and several community members,” read a statement from the Boys and Girls Club. “From the bottom of our hearts, we want to extend a huge thank you to this community for helping us open new doors of opportunity for the youth that we serve. We know that it takes a whole community to raise a child, and we couldn’t do it without each of you.”
Next year’s event is themed “Flashback to the 50’s” and will be held on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 at SentryWorld.
