14th annual Passport to Paradise raises $37,000 for youth programs

The Boys & Girls Club of Portage County and the Stevens Point Area YMCA hosted the 14th annual Passport to Paradise event Friday, Jan. 22, and it was another record-breaking year.
This year’s event was themed “Wild West” and included food inspired by the old-time western theme, the local country band, Raised Reckless, a 50/50 raffle and an abundant silent auction.
This year there were about 400 attendees and $37,000 was raised. However, the Boys & Girls Club and YMCA staff and committee volunteers said the success of this event would not be possible without the support of local businesses and several community members.
The next Passport to Paradise will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at SentryWorld. Organizers recommend “making sure you pull out your best Grease garb as we have a Flashback to the 50’s.”
