Essie L. Pierce, 88
Essie L. Pierce, age 88, of Stevens Point, died February 10, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family.
Essie was born May 19, 1927 to the late Lyle & Leona (Skenadore) Aldrich in Stevens Point. She attended the local schools, graduating from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1945.
She married Virgil R. Pierce March 9, 1963 in Racine, WI. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2006.
Essie was co-owner/secretary at Television Incorporated for many years. After retirement, they managed Rivers Edge Campground.
Essie will be remembered for her strong, loving, caring nature, and her dedication to raising her five children. She relished dressing up goofy, making people laugh, camping, traveling south for the winter with Virgil, and raising St. Bernards. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to music, going to the Moose Lodge, and spending time with family. Essie was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and a member of Badger Community Church of Waupaca.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Roy) Perzinski of Stevens Point, Harlan (Lynn) Pierce of Kenosha, WI, Trudy Mech of New Mexico, Lynella Kraklow of Plover, and John Pierce of Stevens Point. She is further survived by sister, Nancy (Robert) Kozlowski of Kenosha; brother, Dennis (Bonnie) Aldrich of Kenosha; sister-in-laws, Marge Aldrich of Jefferson and Judy Aldrich of Polonia; 18 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
Essie was preceded in death by parents, Lyle & Leona Aldrich; husband, Virgil; sisters, Marcella Bannach, Patricia Raney, & Inez Schmunk; brothers, Lyle & Donald Aldrich; brother-in-law, Glenn Raney; & son-in-laws, Dennis Mach & Charles Kraklow.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 15, 2016 at Boston Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Stine presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A Women of the Moose ritual will precede the service. Burial will be held in Amherst Cemetery in the spring.
Essie’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Michael’s Hospital and Ministry Home Hospice for the care that was given. They would also like to thank Barb Buza for the wonderful friendship she had with Essie.
