Leona K. Bembenek

Leona Katherine Bembenek, 84, formerly of Custer, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home in Plover from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the Mass. A parish rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials in her name will be established at a later date.

Mrs. Bembenek was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Stevens Point, a
daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Kruzitski) Klismith. She graduated from
St. Joseph Academy in 1950.
She was married to Chester Bembenek Sr. June 9, 1951, at St.
Stanislaus Catholic Church. He died Sept. 3, 2009.
She worked for Drs. Dunn and Anderson Eye Clinic for many
years.
After retirement, she and her husband lived in Sayner and
then moved to Custer in 1992.
Survivors include five children, Chester Jr., Stevens Point,
Marvin (Betty), New Castle, Colo., Karen (Colin) Glaske, Custer, Alan
(Darlene), Junction City, and Linda (William) Culek, New London; two sisters, Amelia
Glodoski, Wisconsin Rapids, and Betty Skierka, Stevens Point; one brother,
Edwin Klismith, Amherst; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Henry,
Benedict, Raymond and Frank and two sisters, Regina and Kathleen.
