A Pine Grove man was in circuit court this week to face charges including child sex assault.
Luke Lashay, 22, has been charged with incest, causing a child under 13 to view sexual activity and first-degree sexual assault of a child under 12. All told, he faces a maximum of 112 years in prison if convicted.
According to the criminal complaint, Lashay abused an 11-year-old girl around Dec. 25 in 2015. According to the girl, Lashay lit a pipe containing marijuana or synthetic marijuana and blew smoke in the girl’s face before he began to assault her, despite her repeatedly telling him not to. The abuse allegedly occurred in the family’s living room, and stopped when the girl yelled for her father.
The girl notified her family members the following day, and was interviewed by a social worker on Jan. 19.
Lashay was arrested on Jan. 21. He remains behind bars on $15,000 cash bond.
He returns to court for arraignment on March 28.
