Police & Sheriff Calls Feb. 12-16

Feb. 12
Obstruction: Deputies arrested a 38-year-old man after a traffic stop on I-39 at 1:34 AM. The man was charged with speeding, operating without a valid license and resisting or obstructing an officer.
Theft: Police were called to a home on the 1000 block of Union St. at 12:01 AM after a man reported items stolen from his vehicle. The items were later returned.
Theft: A 24-year-old man called police at 12:12 AM to report a theft from his vehicle on the 900 block of Portage Street. Among the items taken were a battery pack jump-starter and a toolbox with 120-piece tool set. Value of the items taken is estimated at $150.
Attempted Theft: Police were called to a home on the 1100 block of Washington at 12:30 AM after a 42-year-old man there reported someone had attempted to steal items from his vehicle.
Attempted Theft: Police responded to a home on the 600 block of Third St. when a 24-year-old woman said someone entered her vehicle without permission. Nothing was taken.
Car V Deer: A 33-year-old man called deputies to report he’d hit a deer with his vehicle near County Tk. HH West and White Birch Rd. near Junction City at 4:38 AM. No human injuries were reported.
Suspicious Person Sightings: A caller on the 1500 block of College Ave. reported seeing a suspicious person/vehicle at 12:40 AM. Another caller reported seeing a suspicious person/ vehicle at 1:11 AM near Main and Second streets. Another suspicious person was reported on the 1000 block of Clark St. at 1:54 AM.
Truancy Party Busted: Police warned several students from SPASH, ages 16 and 17, for being truant from school at 9:08 AM.
Train Complaint: A 44-year-old man called police at 10:28 AM to complain about a lengthy train crossing near Coye Dr. and Hoover Road.
Suspicious Person: A 40-year-old man called police to report a suspicious person/vehicle on Whitetail Dr. at 10:39 AM.
Unruly Student: Police were called to P.J. Jacobs Jr. High after a caller there reported a 13-year-old boy creating a disturbance at 1:36 PM.
Internet Pirate: A 63-year-old woman called police to report she suspected her 22-year-old female neighbor was using her Internet connection without permission at 4:45 PM.
Harassment: A 41-year-old man reported receiving threatening or harassing phone calls at 10:56 AM from his Old Hwy. 18 home.
Youth Group Stranded: Deputies assisted a youth group from Missouri, whose bus had broken down near mile marker 146 on I-39 at 5:32 PM. Another bus arrived to take the group to their Wausau destination, while the broken down bus was towed away by Adams Towing.
Fraudulent Check: A 51-year-old man reported to police someone sent him a fraudulent check after he posted something for sale on Facebook at 6:06 PM.
Stop, Kid: Deputies gave a verbal warning to an 18-year-old woman for not stopping at a stop sign at the Water St. and Arlington Place intersection at 10:33 PM.
Feb. 13
Wear a Seat Belt, Man: Deputies cited a 24-year-old man for driving without a seat belt or proof of insurance near Hwy. 10 and Algoma St. at 10:08 AM.
OWI: A 21-year-old woman was arrested first her first OWI offense at 12:36 AM near Second and Portage streets.
Suspicious Person: A caller reported a suspicious person/vehicle at 2:07 AM on the 100 block of Division Street.
Suspicious Person: A 52-year-old man called police to report a suspicious person/vehicle on the 5300 block of Old Highway 18 at 4:13 AM.
Vandalism: A 64-year-old man called police at 11:32 AM to report a section of his four-foot yard fence was damaged at his home on the 1100 block of Phillips Street. A neighbor on the 1800 block of Briggs St. reported at 11:36 AM her fence had also been damaged.
Fighting Grandpas: Police were called at 6:24 PM after a 71-year-old man struck a 50-year-old man over a disagreement on the 600 block of Second Street.
Noise Complaint: Several young men, all 21-years-old, were warned for excessive noise and loud music on the 1000 block of Union St. at 11:50 PM.
Feb. 14
Fight: Police responded to a residence on the 1400 block of Torun Rd. at 3:05 AM after a fight was reported between two women, 32 and 39.
OWI: A 26-year-old man was arrested for his first offense OWI at 12:53 AM. He was also cited for operating with a defective headlamp on the 400 block on Division Street.
Driving After Revocation: Police cited a 40-year-old man for driving left of the center line and after revocation at 1:13 AM near W. Clark St. and West River Drive.
Catfight: A 23-year-old woman was arrested for punching another woman, also 23, at Buffy’s Bar at 1:39 AM.
OWI: Deputies arrested a 28-year-old man on I-39 near the County Tk. HH exit for his first OWI offense at 2:07 AM. The man was also charged with driving 11-15 miles of the speed limit.
No Love For You: A 33-year-old man called deputies at 4 AM to report an “unwanted girlfriend” was at his home on Shady Drive in Plover. The woman left on her own before law enforcement arrived.
Valentine’s Fight: Police were called to a home on the 2100 block of Dixon St. at 7:02 AM after a caller reported a disturbance between a man and woman there.
Roadway Hazard: A 49-year-old woman called police to report a metal ramp was in the roadway on Maria Dr. near Union St. at 3:47 PM. Police located the ramp, described as a $90 Trigolf folding aluminum ATV ramp, and removed it.
Domestic Abuse: Portage Co. dispatchers reported an abandoned 911 call at 5:15 PM. Responding police discovered the caller was attempting to report domestic abuse. A 41-year-old man was arrested.
Not So Sweet: Police arrested a 22-year-old man for resisting arrest, hit and run resulting in injury, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation after a traffic stop on the 100 block of Division St. at 5:51 PM.
Disorderly Conduct: Police cited a 33-year-old woman for disorderly conduct after a caller reported loud and abusive arguing from a home on the 1400 block of Main Street at 7:38 PM.
Feb. 15
Stalking: A 34-year-old man called police to report receiving threatening messages from a home on Green Ave. from a 45-year-old man.
Third OWI: A 33-year-old man was arrested for his third OWI at 1:56 AM after a traffic stop near Water and Third streets. The man was also cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license and suspended registration.
Crash: A 30-year-old man was cited following a one-vehicle crash for driving too fast for conditions on Highway 66 in Rosholt. The man was also warned for having a suspended registration. No injuries were reported.
Family Disturbance: A 30-year-old man called deputies to report an intoxicated family member was causing disturbances at a home on Saumer Rd. in Rosholt at 9:18 AM.
Crash: A 22-year-old woman was cited for failure to yield to the right of way after causing a two-vehicle crash on County Tk. P and Hwy. 34 in Junction City at 11:35 AM. No injuries were reported.
Unruly Student: Police cited a 12-year-old boy at P.J. Jacob’s Jr. High for disorderly conduct at 9:27 AM.
Unruly Student: A 13-year-old boy was cited for disorderly conduct at Ben Franklin Jr. High at 1:58 PM.
Domestic Abuse: Two people, a 22-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, were arrested for battery and disorderly conduct after a caller reported a disturbance from a home on Portage St. at 1:59 PM. The police report indicated the disturbance resulted in property damage and injuries, with both parties providing police with a different story.
Disturbance: A 20-year-old woman reported suspicious activity near her vehicle at her home on the 1500 block of Franklin St. at 9 PM.
Twice In One Day: Police arrested an 18-year-old man for domestic abuse after being called to a home on the 1200 block of West River Dr. twice in the same day. Officers were first called to the home at 4:51 PM for a “disturbance” which warranted no further involvement. After police left, the situation escalated and police were called back at 9 PM.
Loud Party: A 79-year-old woman called police at 1:33 AM to report her neighbors were having a “party with many guests and very loud music” on the 1200 block of Northpoint Drive.
Feb. 16
OWI: A 19-year-old man was arrested for his first offense of OWI and for operating after suspicion during a traffic stop near Park and Water streets at 2:14 AM.
Parking Complaints: A caller reported ongoing problems with parking near Dixon St. and Michigan Ave. at 6:42 AM.
Car Vandal: A 55-year-old woman called deputies to report someone hacked her vehicle’s GPS unit, also cutting the wires, at 6:32 AM on I-39.
Fraud: A 52-year-old woman reported falling victim to a fraudulent debt consolidation loan deal out of Florida at 11 AM.
Missing Handgun: An 82-year-old man called police to say his .380 nickle-plated pistol with laser sighting had gone missing after he moved to a new residence.
Heck No, I Won’t Go: a 39-year-old woman called police to report her 17-year-old daughter refused to go to court at 3:39 PM.
Garbage Can Fatality: A 60-year-old man reported an unknown person struck his garbage can with a vehicle, causing damage, at his home on the 400 block of Georgia St. at 6 AM.
Doggone Alarm: A silent alarm was set off from a property on the 100 block of Wilshire Blvd. at 2:27 PM. Deputies later discovered the alarm was mistakenly set off by the homeowner’s dog.
Heck No, I Won’t Go: Deputies responded to a home near the intersection of Water and Wisconsin streets at 3:35 PM after a caller reported a juvenile was refusing to attend a court hearing. An officer escorted the juvenile and parents to the courthouse.
Harassing Phone Calls: A 38-year-old man reported to police that a 55-year-old man was harassing him over the telephone at 4:47 PM.
Big No-No: A 27-year-old man was cited at 10:21 PM for driving while his license was revoked near County Hwy. HH and Marsh Rd. in Junction City. The man was also cited for failing to install his ignition interlock device.
