Sophie M. Michelkamp

Sophie Mae Michelkamp, 96, Port Edwards, a former Junction City resident, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. John Swing officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park in the town of Grand Rapids in Wood County.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon Sunday until the services.

Mrs. Michelkamp was born June 25, 1919, in Mosinee, a
daughter of the late Walter and Magdeline Roman. The family moved to Junction
City in 1927, and she attended elementary school in Junction City.
She was married to Steve J. Michelkamp Aug. 31, 1940, at St.
Michael Church in Junction City. He died Jan. 3, 2001.
In early years, she worked in the restaurant business and
later worked in the lunch program at John Edwards Public Schools in Port
Edwards.
She was an honorary member of St. Alexander’s Catholic
Women’s Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathie Bindel, Port Edwards;
three grandchildren, Niles (Rebecca) Bindel, Wausau, Erin (Tim) Staege, Stevens
Point, and Kristofer Bindel, Madison; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one
sister.
