Eugene A. Uhl Jr.
Eugene A. Uhl Jr., 67, Amherst, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2016,
at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, at
St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, with the Rev. Dan Hackel presiding.
Military graveside services will be in Greenwood Cemetery
Visitation will be at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home from 4
to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, and at the church from 10 a.m. Monday until the Mass.

Mr. Uhl was born April 24, 1948, at Weaver Air Force Base (now
Ellsworth Air Force Base) in Rapid City, S.D., a son of Mildred (Pomerenke) Uhl
and the late Eugene A. Uhl Sr.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Army serving from 1968
He was married to Joan Smith Nov. 7, 1970, in Clintonville.
He worked at Madison Silo, drove school bus for the Tomorrow
River School District and in March 1976 started working at the Waupaca Foundry
until retiring in 2001.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Amherst
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Uhl, Amherst; three daughters,
Cheryl (Marty) Andersen and Charity (Rodney Konkol) Uhl, both of Amherst, and
Chastity (Earl) Walker, Stevens Point; his mother, Mildred Uhl, Amherst; three
siblings, Jeffery (Sandy) Uhl, Amherst, Terry (Jerry Burns) Uhl, Ellenton, Fla.,
and Gary (Lyn) Burns, Menasha; 10 grandchildren; and a special friend, Jerry
He was also preceded in death by one son, Sgt. Eugene Uhl
III; his grandparents, John and Grace Pomerenke and Carl and Gertrude Uhl; and
one sister, June Lauersdorf.
