Rev. Francis M. Kisner

The Rev. Francis M. (Frank) Kisner, 95, Centerville, Ohio, a
former Plover resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at the Victory Ridge
Hospice Unit of the Dayton Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton,
Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5,
at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be in Restlawn
Memorial Park Cemetery in the town of Grand Rapids in Wood County, with full
military honors.
Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday
until the services.

Rev. Kisner was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Hanlontown, Iowa, a
son of the late Cornelius V. and Leora D. (Tewksbury) Kisner. The family moved
to Joice, Iowa, in 1925 and he graduated from Joice High School in 1938.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1942 during World War II,
with the majority of his service in the Panama Canal Zone under the U.S. 4th
Army Headquarters Battery 906 Anti-Aircraft Artillery.
Following his discharge, and with the encouragement of his
Army Chaplain, he felt called to the gospel ministry and received his training
at Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was married to Betty L. King June 12, 1948, in Oconomowoc
while in college. She died Jan. 20, 2000.
Rev. Kisner was ordained Nov. 1, 1955,
at the Highland Park Baptist Church in St. Paul, Minn. He served ministries in
Fargo, N.D.; St. Paul, Minn.; Huntley, Minn.; and Tomah before becoming senior
pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids for 17 years.
He was a past member of the Wisconsin Association of Regular
Baptist Church’s Council of Eight, was twice elected president of the Minnesota
Baptist Convention pastor’s fellowship and was a member of the Board of
Trustees of Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minn.
He lived in Plover after retiring in 1989.
He is survived by one son, David (Wendy), Dayton, Ohio; and
two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn
Dalbotten.
