Coffee With a Cop to Bring SPPD, Public Closer

City Times Staff
Coffee With a Cop is coming to Downtown Stevens Point.
The popular informal meeting series with local law enforcement began last year as a means to encourage conversation and understanding between local residents and those who enforce the law. Plover police, joined by Portage Co. deputies, kicked off the series last summer at Dunkin Donuts in Plover.
Sheriff Mike Lukas, along with some of his deputies — often Chief Deputy Dan Kontos — have continued the meetings every few months at a range of local businesses, to include the Mission Coffee House on Post Road (pictured above) and Brookdale Senior Living in Stevens Point.
Now, local law enforcement has aimed its next meeting directly at residents of the city. The next Coffee With a Cop will be held Thur., March 10 from 10 AM to noon at Diversi-Tea, 920 Clark Street.
Officers from the Stevens Point Police Dept. and Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to chat, answer questions and listen to concerns.
Information on the event, which has also been coined “Tea with a Cop” and “Tea with the PD” on the SPPD’s Facebook page, has been posted on social media pages for the Stevens Point Police Dept. and Portage Co. Sheriff’s Office.
