City Times Staff
Services has been almost completely restored to more than 7,800 customers who woke up without power on Sunday.
WPS spokeswoman Kelly Zagrzebski said a tree fell on a power line early Sunday morning, triggering several breakers, around 4 AM.
It was not immediately known what caused the tree to fall.
Power was out in several neighborhoods in north Stevens Point, as well as parts of the south and east sides of town, as well as parts of Junction City.
Electric service should be fully restored by 8:15 AM, she added.
Along with residential service, several traffic signals are out along Church and Division streets, as well as Michigan Ave. and surrounding areas. Officials from the Stevens Point Fire Dept. said they were unaware of any accidents during the outage.
