Motorists on Illinois Ave. will see some changes on Monday, due to construction on the east side of Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital.
Beginning March 7, crews will shift the lanes on Illinois Ave. between Sims Ave. and Prais Street. Curbside parking along Prais St. will be eliminated during the construction.
The street will continue to make two lanes available for traffic, though drivers might experience some delays during construction. Flaggers will be present at times of heavy construction traffic or loading and unloading activities, according to a press release from Ellis Construction.
According to Joe Leaver, the assistant project manager from Ellis Construction, the project includes adding a corridor near the on the building’s east side near the emergency department.
“It’s a corridor for access to the emergency department for a remodel that we’re doing,” Leaver said.
Concrete barriers and safety signage will be in place throughout the duration of construction, which will last until October.
Leaver said construction would occur “generally between 7 AM and 3:30 in the afternoon”, but added those hours could vary.
