Lillian M. Hetherman

Lillian Mary Hetherman, 87, Eastpointe, Mich., mother of a
Stevens Point man, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at her residence.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Hetherman was born April 4, 1928, in New York City, a
daughter of the late Hungarian immigrants Egyed Colman (Kalman C. Egyed) and
Margaret Colman (Margit Hudeczek). In later childhood, she moved to Vermont
with her mother and sister.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Goddard College in
1951 in music composition and philosophy. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree
in 1954 and Master of Music degree in 1956 from Eastman School of Music in music
theory with piano as her instrument.
She was married to John W. Hetherman. He preceded her in
death.
She spent the majority of her life in the Detroit area and
moving to Michigan with her husband.
She worked at State Farm Insurance for 20 years.
She performed piano renditions of Chopin waltzes and after
she developed Alzheimer’s disease she inexplicably began to play “Begin the
Beguine.”
Survivors include four children, Margaret F. Hetherman,
Brooklyn, N.Y., John W. (Cheryl) Hetherman, Novi, Mich., Heidi M. (Scott)
Maglicic, Eastpointe, Mich., and Christopher J. (Lisa) Hetherman, Stevens Point;
six grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Margaret F.
Carty.
