Lavina K. Joosten, 102, Stevens Point, died Sunday, March 6,
2016, at the Atrium River View Lodge in Stevens Point.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
March 12, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Junction City, with the Rev. John
Ofori-Domah officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until
the Mass.


Martens/Rembs Funeral Home in Junction City assisted with
arrangements. Condolences may be offered online at www.rembsfh.com.


Mrs. Joosten was born March 31, 1913, in the town of Siegel in
Wood County, a daughter of the late Peter and Cecilia (Haydock) Brostowitz. She
attended Pleasantview Grade School and graduated from Rudolph High School in
1930.


She was married to Edward H. Joosten Jan. 2, 1934, at Holy
Rosary Catholic Church in Siegel. They were married for 30 years before he died
Aug. 14, 1964.


She worked at Morgan’s Pickle Factory and DuBay Cranberry
Company. After her husband’s death, she worked as a postal clerk at the
Junction City Post Office for 16 years.


She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and belonged
to the Altar Society and Blue Army Prayer Group.


In 2009 at the age of 96, she moved into the assisted
facility River View Lodge in Stevens Point where she lived until her death.


Survivors include three children, Jerry (Marie) Joosten and
John (Bonnie) Joosten, both of Wisconsin Rapids, and Eunice (Jim) Hughes,
Junction City; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.


She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Janet
Bushmaker, Nathalie Radtke and Teresa Fidler.
