KoC Awards Grant to St. Peter’s

For the City Times
The Knights of Columbus Council 1170 Stevens Point has awarded grants for several new, interactive components to the Pacelli Catholic Middle School (PCMS) religion program.
Jane Yenter, PCMS teacher and grant recipient, wanted to find ways to make practicing and teaching the Catholic faith a more social and interactive with her students, and this grant does just that.
“The Knights of Columbus have been very generous in enhancing the religious curriculum at Pacelli Catholic Middle School,” said Yenter. “They have funded several projects over the past couple of years. It is an uplifting experience to watch young people sitting around laughing and having fun as they discuss religious topics.”
The grant will total $453.70 and will fund the following:
Games to review and share the faith, like Apples to Apples Bible Edition and Scattergories Bible Edition, which the students will utilize to enthusiastically discuss Bible topics.
Good Deed Beads and rosary supplies that the PCMS students will create and share with students making their First Holy Communion at area parishes.
Prayer Bags to help students focus their time while giving five minutes to God each time they pray,
including a cross, timer, scroll to explain the program, and two Give Him 5 Cards, one to keep and one to
share.
The check was presented to Yenter and her students on Monday, Feb. 29 at St. Peter’s Parish. Grand Knight Rhody Przekurat and Financial Secretary John Schlice were on hand to award the grant.
